A collection of registers, reports, petitions, letters, and other materials from New Spain, the Philippines, Spain, and Italy relating to Franciscan administration and activities in the Indies, notably the beautification and canonization of Antonio Margil de Jesús, the life and martyrdom of San Felipe de Jesús, and disputed transfer of Fray José Torrubia, and the apportionment of offices among Spanish-born and native friars. The volumes contain originals and copies drawn chiefly from the archives of Franciscan provinces in New Spain and the Philippines. They bear seals of the said provinces, the Franciscan Commissioner General, and the Archdiocese of Mexico, written in Spanish, Latin, and Italian. There are a few engraved or penwork decorations and illustrations.
